What little black seeds can help you shed those extra pounds?
The tiny beads known as chia seeds pack some powerful nutrition. They are high in fiber and the heart-healthy omega 3 fats, and they contain a respectable amount of protein and calcium. Besides all that, they appear to help people lose weight! A recent study compared overweight people who ate about 3 or 4 tablespoons of ground chia seeds per day with those who ate the same amount of oat bran. After 6 months, those eating the chia seeds lost more weight and more inches in the waist compared to those who had the oat bran. So get a little spice grinder and grind the chia seeds. Sprinkle the powder on your cereal, salad or soup. It has a mild enough flavor, you might not even know it's there. Don't eat the seeds or powder dry, though. When chia seeds get wet, they make a gel, and that's best happening in your food and not in your throat.
