Brown Rice


  • 1 1/2 C brown rice
  • 3 C water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)


  2. Rinse rice in strainer.
  3. Bring water to boil. (Rice expands as it cooks, use a sauce pan large enough to accommodate.)
  4. Add rice and salt, then bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cover and simmer 45-50 min. (do not remove the lid while the rice is cooking.) When done fluff with fork and serve.

NOTE: Rice keeps well in the fridge, so make extras to serve later. It also freezes well.
