Oatmeal Burgers


  • 3 cups oats (quick oats or a mixture of quick oats and old fashioned rolled oats)

  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce, Tamari or liquid aminos (Braggs brand is a natural Soy Sauce alternative)

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp basil

  • 1 tsp sage

  • 1 Tbs McKay's vegan "Beef" seasoning, optional

  • 1 small onion - chopped

  • 1/2 cup ground pecans or walnuts

  • 3 cups boiling water


  1. Put water on the stove to boil.

  2. While water is heating, add to it the rest of ingredients except oatmeal.

  3. When water is boiling, take pot off stove and add the oatmeal, stirring just enough to wet all mixture.

  4. When cooled enough to handle, spoon burger mixture into lightly sprayed canning jar lid.

  5. Place burgers on lightly oiled baking sheet or cover sheet with parchment paper.

  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 mins. on each sides.
