Quinoa Oat Burgers


  • 3 cups old fashioned oats

  • 1 cup cooked quinoa

  • 2 cups water

  • 1/4 cup Tamari or low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 large, sweet onion, quartered

  • 2/3 cup walnuts or pecans

  • 1 Tblsp. onion powder

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. sage


  1. Put oats in a large bowl.

  2. Blend everything else until smooth.

  3. Pour into the bowl with the oats. Mix well. Let mixture sit 5-10 minutes to absorb some of the liquid.

  4. Form into patties on lightly sprayed cookie sheet or on silicone sheet.

  5. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned on the bottom.

  6. Flip patties and bake another 5-10 minutes, until lightly browned on the other side.

  7. Serve on buns with usual burger fixings or cover with gravy and serve with cauliflower potato mash.
