1/3 cup raw cashew
1 can lite coconut milk
2 Tbs. lightly toasted sesame seeds at 350 degrees for 4-5 mins.
1 1/2 tsp. nutritional yeast flakes (optional)
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1/2 to 3/4 tsp. garlic powder- to taste
2 1/2 Tbs. cornstarch or tapioca starch water
1/2 cup finely minced fresh basil or 1 tsp. dried
Put raw cashews, coconut milk, sesame seeds, nutritional yeast flakes, salt, onion powder, garlic powder and cornstarch in blender and blend for 1-2 mins. or until mixture is smooth.
Add water to make a total of 4 cups and blend.
Pour into saucepan, add basil, and bring to a boil over med. heat.
Reduce heat to low and stir constantly with a wire whisk as it thickens to keep it from lumping.
As soon as it thickens, remove from heat and pour over hot, cooked whole grain pasta or steamed vegetables.
